The Come Game: Adding the Cue

Webster plays The Come Game

Webster understands The Come Game and is volunteering the behavior.

When Webster is dependably volunteering the behavior,

we add the cue......"Webster, Come!"

Webster is distracted by Lily while doing the exercise.

Watch him respond to the Come cue.

Karen is able to call him away from Lily

using the cue only once.

Most of Webster's COME: Level 1 practice has been with Karen only

(not between 2 or more people)

at home in the house or in the back yard.

He was able to handle the distractions in the classroom.

On the other hand, Rooster is getting a LOT of practice playing The Come Game

between Cathy and Steven outside on the farm.

Given his training experience,

Rooster should have been the more successful dog.

But he was unable to handle the distractions of the classroom today

and we were unable to play the game with him at all.

A great example of something Sue says often:

"Maybe he's a 50X dog, maybe he's a 100X dog.

Go back and keep teaching."
