SURFACES: LEVEL FOUR

Dog confidently walks up and down an open staircase with a grated tread and no risers.

This morning, we began our session on ordinary stairs. Now we are going to look at an open staircase with a grated tread and no risers. Whoa! A huge leap! A huge lump!. We introduced our dogs to these stairs, but only 2 or 3 steps before letting the dogs figure out how to come down the stairs after going up the stairs.

What better way to keep us from lumping? Before the open staircase with a grated tread and no risers, we can easily see the value of exposing the dogs to every kind of ordinary stairs that we can find.
